Vision
Ellisras 360 One Loft Race (OLR) was established to be set aside from commercial races. Its purpose is to embed and embrace the heart it takes to race pigeons in some of the countries’ toughest terrains.
During the last 3 decades many OLR was started in South Africa. Some very successful and others less. The most wellknown being the Sun City Million Dollar Loft in Pilanesberg. Th “Million Dollar (as it was called) was the first Racing Pigeon Loft in the world where the winner could win a Million US Dollar. Today even South Africa’s President is the owne o a OLR named Afrika-Pro. Just Outside Bela-Bela in our province.
With this enormous successes Prize money became more bur so also entry fees. The normal pigeon fancier could not enter their pigeons anymore in the Big Lofts. This lead to our idea to create a Loft where even the Novice Fancier coul enter there pigeons. With as little as R 2200 he can enter 4 x pigeons to compete against many well-known and very successful fanciers from Limpopo, Gauteng and Free-State in this first season already (2024)
Even retired Fanciers, School children, Businesses can now compete without having to build a Loft or to acquire pigeons
Preface about Ellisras: Nestled within the Mogol river basin, an area boasting Leadwood (Hardekool), Baobab and ample Marula Trees, engulfed within the most pristine bushveld, close to where the Tambotie flood planes merge with the Mogol, and approximately 60km from where the Mogol weds the Majestic Limpopo river, bordering South-Africa. Within the capital of the Waterberg Mountain range, Where Vervet monkeys and Baboons range alongside the elusive Leopard and Packs of Wild Dogs.

Testing the Heart of the Fancier, the Heart of Genetics and the Heart of the Pigeon itself, going full circle (360), back to a type of Nostalgia only a minority has had the opportunity to really experience. The Nostalgia of early morning banding of a pigeon chick in the nest at 7days, with the smell of ruffled down in one’s nostrils and feather dust on one’s clothes. The remembrance of bright-eyed pigeons in a wicker basket, set out on a gravel road, waiting for the sun to greet the day, together with the sound of a lone Franklin. The Smell and feel of waiting for a pigeon on race day, diving down onto the trap and stepping inside its loft, as if it has never been anywhere else.

Ellisras Duiweklub (EDK) het besluit om die geleentheid te skep waar voormalige Duiweboere en lede van die publiek betrokke kan raak by die Duiwesport. Persone kan nou direk betrokke wees by die Wedvlugduiwe Sport sonder om self Hokke te bou of Duiwe aan te hou. ‘n Spesiale projek word beplan vir Skole en ons sal eersdaags meer inligting beskikbaar stel
Hoekom 360;
a. Dit voel of dit vir 360 dae van jaar Somer is hier. (Tong in die kies)
b. Wedvlugte en oefenvlugte sal 360˚ rondom die hok wees.
Duiweboere buite Ellisras (Limpopo en Gauteng) het alreeds duiwe hier ingeskryf omdat Ellisras beskou word as een van die moelikste plekke om Duiwe te vlieg. (Agv die hitte en die Waterberge). Hier kan die Duiwe dan na een hok onder dieselfde omstandighede deelneem. Wind ens. bevoor- of be-nadeel dan nie een dorp bo die ander nie
Die Ellisras 360 hok word deur Eliisras Duiweklub bestuur en die volgende lede (of enige ander lid van EDK) kan gekontak word deur Skole en Besighede wat betrokke wil wees met die kompetisies wat Ellistas 360 beplan
